Tom's Draw
Celebrating the heart of West Heanton
Tom's Draw is our monthly celebration of the incredible people who make West Heanton such a special place to live and work. Every day, our staff create moments of kindness, comfort, and joy — and Tom's Draw is a way for families, visitors, clients, and colleagues to shine a light on those moments.
Anyone connected to West Heanton can nominate a member of our team when they've done something special, shown extra care, or simply made someone's day brighter. These nominations help us share positive stories, encourage more of the good, and celebrate the everyday heroes who make our community feel like home.
At the end of each month, all nominations are entered into Tom's Draw, and one staff member is chosen as our monthly winner. As a thank-you for going above and beyond, the winner receives a £50 Marks & Spencer voucher, personally gifted by Tom, our manager, in recognition of their efforts and the difference they make.
Tom's Draw is all about appreciation, encouragement, and celebrating the people who bring warmth, compassion, and joy to West Heanton.

Geoff C
Long overdue from me, sorry! Geoff is like a silent angel when on shift. Never needing to be asked to help, he just does it, sees things that often get overlooked and quietly corrects it. Thursdays are very different when he's not here and I miss him greatly. I can never thank you enough Geoff.

As we come to the end of the year I just wanted to thank everyone who looks after mum - from the incredible care, day centre and admin teams, to the amazing kitchen and maintenance staff
and of course the cleaning and laundry department.
All the team who look after Mums care in the Suite are exceptional.
However we would like to especially thank Caroline and commend her to the senior management team and Tom as someone who exemplifies and personifies the core values West Heanton care often going above and beyond to care. -

Lawson T
I've only just started getting to know you all so I don't know all the names yet. I'd love to nominate EVERYONE who has been a part of the staff helping my Mum settle in to West Heanton. I have seldom been a place with such a wonderful sense of compassion and familiarity. From Mindy (calling me with the good news and walking me through the joining process step by step)to Anne, Jess, Beth, Anna, Claire, Erica, Geoff and all those I havent put names and faces to yet. Thank you for making my Mum smile again ????.Your combined kindness makes me feel tearful after the last few tumultuous years where I felt like the weight of responsibility all fell on my shoulders and I wasn't managing to fix it. Thank goodness Frances and Jilly told me all about West Heanton. But most of all I would like to thank Lawson, who on day one dropped in to help Mum hang her pictures to feel at home. And to talk to Mum about his percheron working horses and ask and listen to Mum about the horses in her past in all her pictures. To make her feel like there was someone there who could relate to her passion in a new place. She lit up. When I drove home on that day, I knew that all the anxieties in and around moving Mum were going to abate and that we had made the right decision. Thanks all of you.
